An estimated 60% of Florida residents are considered housing cost-burdened, spending over 30% of their income on housing. As a result, all the major metropolitan areas in the state have literally thousands of renters that would benefit from reduced costs. Further exacerbating the problem, there is a significant “under-supply” of affordable rental housing throughout the state.
We have a SOLUTION!
Shipping containers are an alternative to conventional construction techniques. Based on the findings of our feasibility study, conducted in 2015-16, we found a savings of up to 15% over conventional concrete block construction before leveraging our nonprofit status - which may ultimately result in a 25% savings over conventional construction methods.
Development is already underway for the first of its kind, multi-unit rental complex in West Palm Beach, consisting of 52 affordable rental units constructed from 150 repurposed shipping containers.
And, this is just the beginning. We have plans to utilize this technology for affordable rental housing throughout the state - as well as single family designs, emergency housing and BEYOND!
WE NEED YOU TO HELP US MAKE THIS AND FUTURE PROJECTS A SUCCESS!
